Prioritizing Men’s Mental Health—Every Day and Especially This June

June is Men’s Mental Health Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the mental health challenges faced by men and boys—and a powerful reminder that strength includes asking for help, speaking up, and taking care of your mind as well as your body.

At Ambassadors for Christ Youth Ministries, we believe mental wellness is essential to living a whole, healthy, and purpose-filled life. Through every one of our programs—whether it's mentoring, transitional living, job readiness, or youth development—mental health is not a side conversation. It's central to how we support, uplift, and equip the young men we serve.

Why It Matters

For generations, men have been taught to "man up," push through pain, and keep emotions bottled up. This silence has led to widespread struggles with depression, anxiety, anger, substance use, and even suicide. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, men are less likely than women to seek mental health treatment—but that doesn’t mean the need isn’t there.

At Ambassadors for Christ, we challenge the stigma. We foster safe spaces where young men can speak freely, share honestly, and heal fully. We provide resources and referrals for counseling, encourage open dialogue, and build environments where emotional growth is just as important as educational or professional development.

Mental Health in Our Programs

Whether in our Transitional Living Program, workforce initiatives, or community engagement efforts, we embed mental wellness into the foundation of what we do. Here’s how:

  • Holistic Support: Every participant receives guidance that addresses emotional, spiritual, and physical needs—not just surface-level fixes.
  • Mentorship & Counseling: We connect youth with trusted mentors who understand their struggles, encourage vulnerability, and model resilience.
  • Faith-Based Encouragement: We help young people understand that caring for their mental health honors the life God has given them—mind, body, and soul.

This Month—and Beyond

As we recognize Men’s Mental Health Month this June, we renew our commitment to helping young men know they’re never alone. Healing takes courage, and we are here to walk beside them every step of the way.

We invite you to join us—by checking in on the men in your life, sharing mental health resources, and supporting organizations like ours that are committed to breaking the stigma and building stronger futures.

Because at Ambassadors for Christ, mental health is not a trend. It’s a priority.

If you or someone you know is struggling, don’t wait—help is available. Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Each year on July 28 , the world comes together to recognize World Hepatitis Day , a global call to action to raise awareness, fight stigma, and increase access to testing and treatment for viral hepatitis. This year’s theme, “One Life, One Liver”, reminds us just how vital liver health is — and how preventable and treatable hepatitis can be with the right education and support systems in place. At Ambassadors for Christ , we stand on the frontlines of prevention and education through our EQUIP Program , which provides STD prevention education and free testing opportunities to at-risk youth in our community. Hepatitis B and C — two of the most common forms of viral hepatitis — can be spread through sexual contact, making youth-centered sexual health education not just important, but essential. Through EQUIP , young people gain access to: Accurate, judgment-free education on sexual health and hepatitis prevention Free, confidential testing for STDs and hepatitis Resources to understand treatment options and how to protect themselves and others Safe spaces for honest conversations about risk, health, and healing In a time where misinformation can spread faster than any virus, knowledge becomes power. Programs like EQUIP empower youth with the tools they need to take control of their health and build futures free from stigma and disease. On this World Hepatitis Day, we encourage everyone to: Get tested and know your status Educate yourself and others about how hepatitis spreads and how to prevent it Support organizations like Ambassadors for Christ that are doing the work on the ground every day Together, we can prevent new infections, support those living with hepatitis, and build a healthier future — one youth, one family, one community at a time. Nurturing Young Minds: Children’s Mental Health Week – May 2025

April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) — a time to raise our voices, spread awareness, and stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and trafficking. In 2025, the theme continues to emphasize prevention, empowerment, and healing , reminding us that creating safe communities begins with education, empathy, and action. Sexual assault affects millions of individuals across all walks of life. According to recent statistics, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men have experienced some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime. Survivors often carry invisible scars — trauma, isolation, and fear — that extend far beyond the moment of abuse. But during SAAM, we collectively send a powerful message: You are not alone. Empowering Survivors with Support and Hope One organization making a tangible difference is Ambassadors For Christ Youth Ministries (AFC) . Dedicated to uplifting vulnerable and at-risk youth, AFC plays a vital role in providing resources, counseling, and faith-based support to victims of sexual assault and trafficking. AFC understands that healing is not one-size-fits-all. For survivors, especially young people, finding a safe space to process their pain and reclaim their identity is essential. Through mentorship programs, trauma-informed care, spiritual guidance, and access to community resources, AFC offers a holistic approach to recovery . "We believe in meeting people where they are — with compassion, faith, and practical help," says one AFC advocate. "Our mission is to be a light in the darkness and a voice for those who have been silenced." Raising Awareness, Inspiring Change During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, AFC ramps up its advocacy efforts by: Hosting educational workshops for teens and families on consent, healthy relationships, and online safety. Collaborating with local schools and churches to increase awareness and create safe reporting spaces. Partnering with law enforcement and shelters to assist those escaping trafficking situations. Their work reminds us that prevention starts with empowering youth, educating communities , and never shying away from difficult conversations. How You Can Get Involved Everyone has a role to play in ending sexual violence. This April, consider: Wearing teal , the official color of SAAM, to show your support. Sharing survivor stories (with permission) or resources on social media. Donating to or volunteering with organizations like Ambassadors For Christ Youth Ministries that are on the front lines of this fight. Hosting a prayer circle, awareness walk, or informational event in your community. Final Thoughts Sexual Assault Awareness Month isn’t just about raising awareness — it’s about creating a world where every survivor feels heard, supported, and safe. With organizations like Ambassadors For Christ Youth Ministries , we are reminded that there is hope beyond trauma , and healing is possible. Together, we can stand with survivors, amplify their voices , and work toward a future free from abuse and exploitation. If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out to the National Sexual Assault Hotline: 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) or connect with Ambassadors For Christ Youth Ministries at afcyouth.org for faith-centered support and resources.
